Social Justice Committee Supports Literacy

The Foundation’s Social Justice Committee, Columbus City Schools, and the Columbus City Council are all putting their financial muscle into kick-starting 20 new Barbershop Book programs in Columbus (in addition to the 30 that are already up and running). The reading spaces, to be set up in barbershops throughout the inner city,  will contain age-appropriate books for young males of color.  The Foundation Executive Committee unanimously approved the request, which exemplifies the Social Justice Committee’s mandate to advance positive relations between the local Jewish community and other groups. The Social Justice Committee is chaired by Dr. Hilda Glazer.
