Report from the Houston JCC

Joel Dinkin, Director of the Houston JCC, reached out to say that much of the JCC is under a foot or more of water with limited power in the building. Despite that, the facility has remained open!  Dinkin shared the following message to members of his JCC:
Today reinforced for me why we have a JCC – the collection and distribution of supplies is so much more than providing materials to clean a rain soaked house or boxing up personal items. Coming to the J today provided hundreds of Houstonians the opportunity to re-connect, get a hug, share experiences and offer support and encouragement to each other as we face the challenges in the days, weeks and months ahead….we will continue to collect and distribute supplies….check the list of much needed supplies….we have transitioned our Meals on Wheels program to Interfaith Ministries to be able to serve our vulnerable older adult population… stop by and reconnect with your caring community….
The devastation of Hurricane Harvey did not miss Houston's JCC.
