Remembering Lil Strouss
A memorial service for JCC legend Lillian Strouss was held at 11 a.m. on Sunday January 31 at the Columbus Jewish Community Center’s Roth/Resler Theatre. During nearly 40 years of Gallery Players involvement, Lil performed in Arthur Miller’s The Price (1973) and in a 1984 revival headlined by TV star Larry Storch, as well as The Diary of Anne Frank (2001), Arthur Miller’s Broken Glass (1998), Wendy Wasserstein’s An American Daughter (1999), and The Sisters Rosensweig (1997). She also directed The Book of Ruth (2004), Crossing Delancey (1990), Visiting Mr. Green (2003) and The Cemetery Club (1994). Her most recent Gallery Players stagings were Arthur Miller’s All My Sons (2005) and Mark Harelik’s The Immigrant (2010). Lil was an active Foundation fund holder who established charitable gift annuities for the benefit of Gallery Players and two other local charities.
