Open Doors at Central Ohio’s Oldest Synagogue
After 59 years at 5419 East Broad and 161 years of services, the doors will be open — and the community is welcome — for Temple Israel’s last celebratory Shabbat services on July 28 at its current location. New quarters at 3100 East Broad will be finished in about two years. In the interim, services and activities will operate in temporary locations. Many of the religious artifacts are secured in temporary storage. The Temple’s historical archives have been added to the Columbus Jewish Historical Society collection.
