Munich 1946 Haggadah on Display in Israel
In honor of Passover and Israel’s 70th anniversary, the National Library of Israel has created a special exhibit entitled “Next year may we be free.” It features non-traditional haggadahs connecting the story of the exodus from Egypt to the realities of Jewish life in the 1940′s. Among them is a haggadah written in 1946 for residents of a displaced persons camp in Munich. The traditional text was intertwined with modern illustrations personifying the Egypt experience.
