Lazowksi Spellbinds Foundation Cocktail Party Attendees
“When my father’s mother pushed him from a second-floor window of the Kino movie theater in the Polish town of Zetl in August 1942, she had some important words for him: ‘I want you to be somebody and tell the world what’s going on. Save yourself!’” So began the remarks of Alan “Laz” Lazowski, the Foundation’s guest speaker this week. Among a host of business and civic accomplishments, Laz founded Voices of Hope, an organization that collects, categorizes and shares the experiences of Holocaust survivors. Both Laz and his survivor parents are active leaders of the Hartford, CT Jewish community. A presidential appointee to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council, the speaker praised the Foundation for its impactful grants, including SCRIP cards for local Holocaust survivors in need. Attendees received copies of his father’s autobiography.
