Jews Not Exempt From Opioid Crisis
Drug overdoses are expected to remain the leading cause of death for Americans under 50, according to The New York Times. Synthetic opioids, primarily fentalnyl and its analogues, accompanied by an upturn in deaths from cocaine and methamphetamines, together add up to an epidemic of drug overdoses that is killing people at a faster rate than the H.I.V. epidemic at its peak. Ohio lost 4,050 to overdoses in 2016, according to the Dispatch. Since October 2016, more than 100 young people from New York’s Orthodox community died from drug overdoses. Read more here.
