Holiday Gift Program for Needy Holocaust Survivors
Jewish Family Services volunteers and staff distributed early July 4th holiday gifts to local Holocaust Survivors in need. They gave SCRIP vouchers from the Foundation to nearly 170 local victims of Nazi persecution, enabling them to celebrate Independence Day and get through the warm summer months.
What are SCRIP Vouchers?
The Foundation’s SCRIP program provides Jewish community members with emergency vouchers for food, gasoline, and prescription medicine redeemable at all Kroger stores. JFS is one of 13 agencies and synagogues that distribute SCRIP cards on behalf of the Foundation. To date, the Foundation has carried 100% of the costs for nearly 1,500 SCRIP cards. The Foundation has also guaranteed 100% of the emergency food and utility needs of local victims of Nazi persecution, through June 2016.
