Thousands lined 7th Avenue in Manhattan to urge the U.S. Congress to nix the deal between Iran and the P5+1 nations. More than 100 Jewish and pro-Israel organizations were represented. A busload of marchers from Columbus traveled through the night to participate. Minor scuffles occurred between police officers and anti-Zionist counter-protestors from the extremist Neturei Karta Chassidic sect, whose members participated in a two-day Holocaust denial conference in Tehran several years ago.

Congress has two months to consider the Iran deal. If lawmakers vote to deny approval, President Obama will veto their action. The deal still could be killed if Congressional opponents then manage to muster a two-thirds majority in both chambers necessary to override his veto. Five Jewish federations - Boston, Phoenix, Los Angeles and two in South Florida – have come out against the deal. J Street supports the deal and has raised more than $2 million for TV ads and ran a full-page ad yesterday in The New York Times.
