June 1, 1936 – May 18, 2015
It is with deep regret that we inform you of the loss of Miriam Linsey, a wonderful friend of the Foundation who served with love and distinction on the Board and Grants Committee. She was also a member of the Board of Trustees of her alma mater, Elmira College.
A Boston area native, long-time Columbus resident and member of Temple Israel, Miriam was involved in leadership positions with numerous community organizations, including the League of Womens Voters, Hadassah, Temple Israel and the Temple Israel Sisterhood. But she mostly preferred volunteering from the trenches, where she could interact and provide direct assistance to those most in need at food lines, pantries, homeless shelters, and the like. Miriam and husband Marty took great pride serving on the Foundation’s Jewish Needs and Social Justice Committees, where they conceptualized and laid the groundwork for the Foundation’s celebrated SCRIP program, which to date has provided over 1400 local Jews with vouchers for emergency financial needs.
Funeral arrangements are still incomplete. To our special friend Martin Linsey, sons Larry and Steve and their families , we offer our heartfelt condolences.
May the beloved memory of Miriam Linsey be for a blessing.
