Holocaust Commemorations

(Pictured: Local survivor Irv Szames at 2001 memorial ceremony)

Seventy years ago this month, 15 year old Anne Frank died in Bergen-Belsen, just a month before its liberation by British troops.  Three of our community’s Yom HaShoah observances will be held on: April 14, hosted by Governor John Kasich at the new Statehouse Holocaust Memorial; April 15, sponsored by the Columbus Board of Rabbis at Beth Jacob Congregation; and April 16, hosted by Mayor Michael Coleman in the City Hall Chambers.  The Foundation perpetuates the memory of the Shoah through its Holocaust Education Endowment, and honors our local survivors in need with SCRIP voucher assistance.
