Giving Birth to Hospice with Foundation Dollars

Fifteen years ago, the Foundation gave Wexner Heritage House a seed grant to determine if there was local interest in a Jewish hospice program, and if so, $36,000 to launch a pilot program. Interest was overwhelming. The Foundation-funded pilot program was the forerunner to the Larry and Leonore Jewish Community Hospice.  Since then, five endowments have been set up at the Foundation for the facility: the Eva Goldston Spiritual Care Fund, and the Raymond & Pauline Kahn, Robert Glick, Phoebe Gold, and Joan & Jack Wallick Hospice Endowments-each of which generate vital income each year for ongoing hospice service.
