Farewell to the Bronze Age
In the early 1930′s, Violet Shinbach saw a pair of bronzed baby shoes in a department store and thought it could be the start of a business. She found a metal plater who could make the shoes and then sold the product door to door to homes that had toys and swings in the yard. Since then, the Bron-Shoe Company bronzed over 14 million baby shoes for sentimental parents. And all the while, generations of the Shinbach and Kaynes families were key community players, especially at Heritage House and Temple Israel. With the closing of Bron-Shoe this week, we thank Bob Kaynes, Sr. and Bob Kaynes, Jr. for the never-fading lustre of the most-trusted keepsake bronzing company in the world.
