Engaging the Next Generation
Teen Foundation Grants to Help the Jewish Needy
All Columbus Jewish Youth Foundation grants this year will address programs related to Jewish poverty and low-income households. The Columbus Jewish Youth Foundation is comprised of junior and senior high school students from throughout Central Ohio (New Albany to Bexley to Pickerington). It is convened through the Columbus Jewish Foundation’s teen philanthropy program.
Teens Reach Out to Each Other
Jewish teens serving on the Wexner Service Corp have invited all Columbus Jewish Foundation B’nai Tzedek teen fund holders to get together with South High School teens for a Chanukah program at the JCC. Organized in concert with the Harmony Project, the December 16 event is geared to foster harmony and understanding among teens for social action, social justice, and diversity. The event will include a menorah lighting, shared stories, Israeli dancing, a Chanukah meal, and a collaborative art project designed by a Jewish artist and an African-American artist.
Youth Leadership Grants
The administrators of a Youth Leadership Trust fund that was placed under Foundation management in 1993 awarded this year’s grants to the Columbus Jewish Youth Foundation, Columbus BBYO and OSU Hillel.
