Cutting the Board to Size
Who ever heard of such a thing? Voluntarily reducing the size of a board? It happened this week: Foundation Board members readily agreed to downsize the number of Foundation trustees from 37 to 17. There are few formal studies on board size and organizational function (and the few that exist are somewhat contradictory). But based on the Foundation’s very deliberate strategic study recommendations and lots of thoughtful consideration, the motion passed with only one dissention. The new board and officers will be announced next week right here in our weekly e-news.
