Public menorah lightings on campus will take place on December 24 and December 31. Chabad of Columbus will lead the first lighting. The second, at 6:00 PM on the eighth night, will be led by the Associate Provost, Dr. Jody Fournier and University President Beth Paul. Last year, following a series of anti-Semitic incidents on campus, the student government passed a unanimous resolution in support of the Jewish people and the State of Israel. Capital, one of the nation’s largest and oldest Lutheran universities in the country, was the first university in Ohio to pass such a resolution, according to Austin Reid, President of Cap’s chapter of Students Supporting Israel.
