Artscroll Visionary Had Close Ties to Columbus
ArtScroll and Mesorah Publications, perhaps best known for their Schottenstein edition of the Talmud, lost its general editor and co-founder this week. The Jewish world lost a great scholar and visionary. Rabbi Meir Zlotowitz, z’l, took a small wedding-invitation print shop and made it the leading publisher of prayer books and volumes of Torah and Talmud, noted for easily readable typography, instructions and translations. He was a guest at the Foundation’s 1992 annual meeting at the downtown Hilton when copies of the Schottenstein Talmud Bavli were given by the Foundation to each of the local synagogues in Columbus.
