Arthur Miller Coming to the Roth Resler Theatre
Gallery Players, the longest-running community theatre in the Midwest, will present one of Arthur Miller’s most popular plays from May 7-May 22: Arthur Miller’s “A View From the Bridge.” In 1965, Dustin Hoffman was assistant director and stage manager of an Off-Broadway production of the play. Miller was unimpressed with Hoffman (“I wondered how the poor fellow imagined himself a candidate for any kind of acting career.”) Yet the show was a success, exploring themes of the American Dream; the impact of McCarthyism, justice and betrayal; and the state of American masculinity in the 1950s.
